Hat tip to JoeMyGod.comOriginal Story from The Raleigh News & Observer "Unlike most of the speakers at the Trump rally at Ace Speedway on Saturday, Jesse Hursey wore a suit. His black leather shoes shone. His hair was carefully brushed back. The satiny red tie he wore over a light blue shirt flapped in the breeze. Hursey faced the racetrack stands. A crowd gathered around. “First of all, I’m a Christian,” Hursey said, his voice rising and falling with a preacher’s practiced cadence. “Second of all, I’m a Republican. And in that order.”"The same day, Hursey drove a pickup truck through Elon, shouting “White power!” During his speech, Hursey praised Donald J. Trump and encouraged the “silent majority” of the president’s supporters to speak up. As the morning rally wound down, Hursey joined many others in loading into the flag-festooned pickup trucks that circled the speedway. A photo shows the 29-year-old Baptist preacher standing in the bed of a black truck."

Gay Marriage Is Good For Your Health!

What an interesting study!  What fascinated me most was the fact that it didn't matter if the gay men were married or not!  Everyone benefited from gay men being able to legally marry because it removing barriers to gay marriage reduces "the occurrence of stress-related health conditions"  among all gay men.

I don't know if that is enough to convince the homophobes that gay marriage is a good thing.  I don't think they really care about the welfare of gay men who choose to embrace who they are.  They only care about what they think is the protection of the sanctity of "traditional" marriage, which means blocking gays from marrying.  Well, at least we can present this evidence to people who may still have common sense and actually want to promote the "general welfare" of all Americans.

Marriage equality advocates have another reason to feel dedicated to their cause today, as a revelatory new study has found that the health of gay men living in states with laws allowing same-sex couples to wed actually improves their health, even if they don't get hitched.
According to "Effect of Same-Sex Marriage Laws on Health Care Use and Expenditures in Sexual Minority Men: A Quasi-Natural Experiment," which can be found online in the American Journal of Public Health, gay men's visits to local health clinics dropped significantly after Massachusetts began issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples in 2004.
