Ashley Broadway (left) with her wife, Lt.Col Heather Mack (right) and their son Carson It looks like the homophobic military spouses club at Fort Bragg was shamed into offering Ashly a full, permanent membership, after she was named "Military Spouse of the Year" by Military Spouse magazine.  Congratulations to Ashley for standing up for her rights! Via Newsday: FORT BRAGG, N.C. -- A woman married to a female Army officer at  Fort Bragg  and who was recently denied membership in its officers' spouses club said that she has been invited to become a full member. The invitation came on the same day that Broadway also learned she'd been named Fort Bragg's 2013 "Military Spouse of the Year" by Military Spouse magazine. She is married to Lt. Col. Dept. Of Defense Blocking LGBT And Progressive Websites

TowleRoad.com being blocked by the defense department The DOD is not blocking anti-gay and right wing websites.  The policy of banning gays may have changed but the culture still needs to catch up.  The DOD just needs to own up to their bias and remove the anti-gay censoring of the internet. Via AmericaBlog: Possibly the most incredible thing in the entire Pentagon statement is the following: Personal pages and blogs are blocked in accordance with DoD policy allowing military commanders the option to restrict access to personal pages for operational security reasons. Really?   That’s the excuse – you banned us for national security reasons.  But Red State is fine, it doesn’t jeopardize US national security. How exactly does it compromise operational security to let US service members read AMERICAblog and Pam’s House Blend and Towleroad, but it doesn’t jeopardize operational security for them to read Red State?  You can only add content to my blo...

"Legitimate Rape" Congressman Todd Akin Now Going After Gays In The Military

Image
He loses his senate race for being a misogynist and a rape enabler.  He was in the clear lead until he showed his true colors.  Now, on his way out of congress, he is attacking gay veterans.  What a dick!! Via Huffington Post: Rep. Todd Akin (R-Mo.) lost to Democrat Claire McCaskill in November and will soon leave the House of Representatives. Before he goes, however, Akin wants to push one last anti-gay bill to undermine the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell. In May,  Akin first proposed the anti-gay bill,  essentially a "license to bully," for the 2013 National Defense Authorization Act, according to Think Progress. Akin's "conscience clause"  would purportedly protect the religious liberties of military personnel who disagree with homosexuality.  Under the bill, the U.S. military must “accommodate the conscience and sincerely held moral principles and religious beliefs of the members of the Armed Forces concerning the  appropriate and...
