Matt Baume Brilliantly Debunks NOM's Bigoted Claims

This is the first time I have watched any of Matt Baum's marriage equality videos.  My thinking was that I didn't need convincing so, why watch them?  O.K., sometimes I'm stupid...this is one of those times.  I should have been watching and recommending his videos all along!

Via Unicorn Booty:

Matt Baume has busied himself with debunking bigoted attacks and legal challenges to same-sex marriage for years now, but man-oh-man has he created a masterpiece this time around.

In all honesty, Matt’s levelheaded takedown of a NOM commercial that’s been polluting the interwebs in the final days leading up to Election Day could be used in history classes someday in the future to illustrate how those of us standing on the right side of the florescent pink fence met those who defamed us, locked us up, and did their damndest to strip us of all human dignity with the cool confidence that only comes with knowing you are right (and that your opponents are morons).

"Class Act" Ann Coulter Mocks Gay Homelessness On Twitter

Ann Coulter

Attention whore and conservative darling Ann Coulter loves to be a soulless way.  One of her recent tweets proves this point.

That is so funny, Ann!!  You're so clever!!

According to GLADD:

50% of LGBT youth experience some degree of family rejection. There are as many as 100 thousand homeless LGBT youth on our nation's streets, and it's estimated that LGBT youth make up as much as 40% of our nation's homeless youth population. LGBT youth who are completely rejected by their parents are more than 8 times as likely to have attempted suicide. Pretty funny, right?

Paul Ryan's Soup Kitchen "Photo OP" As Fake As His Concern For The Poor

Paul Ryan and wife Janna pretending to volunteer at Ohio soup kitchen (AP photo)
Vice Presidential Candidate Paul Ryan decided to show up, uninvited, to a soup kitchen to show his "concern" for the nations poor.  The trouble is, the meal was served and the kitchen was cleaned before Ryan arrived.  So, he decided to fake an image so the visit didn't go to waste.  All the pot that he was cleaning were already clean.  See? Paul Ryan really cares for poor people...even though the Romney economic plan gives tax breaks to the super rich at the expense of services aimed at helping the poorest of Americans.  What a good Catholic boy!!

Maybe the Romney campaign can earn some money at a stock photo website.

So this is pretty crazy: on Saturday, Paul Ryan planned to have a photo op washing dishes and serving food at a Youngstown, Ohio soup kitchen ... but by the time he arrived, the food had already been served and the dishes had apparently already been done. So he did what any politician in need of a photo op would do—he washed them again, for the benefit of the cameras:
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Paul Ryan visited a soup kitchen here Saturday on his way to the airport, but by the time the GOP vice presidential nominee and his family had arrived shortly before noon, the grits, sausage and doughnuts had been served, the hall was empty of patrons and the volunteers appeared to have already cleaned up. [...]
Ryan stood at the sink and took some large metal pans that did not appear to be dirty, soaped them up and rinsed them, remarking as the cameras clicked and the TV cameras rolled that he had spent a summer washing dishes when he was younger.
“We had a Hobart, though, which was — you get calluses on your fingers because it’s so hot,” he said, referring to the Hobart industrial dishwashing machine.
UPDATE: Here is video of the soup kitchen moment

Straight Christian Lives One Year As Gay Man

Timothy Kurek...Is my gaydar going off?
Would ANY straight man decide to pretend to "come out" to his homophobic family and then pretend to be gay for a full year?  I can't say one way or another whether he is gay or straight.  Is he just a gay man who decided to "try out" being gay and came up with a "way out"?  Or, is he the real deal?  Thoughts?

Via Huffington Post:

Thousands of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people weren't the only ones celebrating National Coming Out Day on Thursday. A Christian man from Tennessee appeared on ABC News to talk about his own coming out experience but -- he's straight.
Timothy Kurek "came out" to his family and friends and lived as a gay man for a year in order to experience what life is like as an LGB person. The Liberty College graduate told ABC News, "You learned to be very afraid of God [in church]... [And you learned] the loving thing to do is to tell my friend who is gay, 'Hey, listen, you are an abomination and you need to repent to go to heaven.' I absolutely believed in that lock, stock and barrel."
But four years ago a lesbian acquaintance of his relayed the story of how her family rejected her when she came out to them and Kurek was moved to take action.
"I feel God really kicked me in the gut," he said. "She was crying in my arms and instead of being there for her, I was thinking about all the arguments to convert her."
Soon after Kurek decided to go under cover and "come out" as a gay man.

Beautiful Expedia Ad Shows Dad Traveling To Daughters Gay Wedding

Video still from Expedia commercial

Expedia is to be commended for releasing such a touching and supportive video.  It portrays a dad coming to terms with and then embracing his lesbian daughter's life as he travels to her wedding.  Please share with your friends.

Via Queerty:

“Artie’s story is the idea that travel is deeply personal,” explains Expedia CEO Dara Khosrowshahi of the segment, part of the company’s larger ongoing “Find Yours” campaign. “We’ve built our entire brand behind that idea. The trip to his daughter’s wedding changed his perspective on fatherhood, his daughter’s happiness and her same-sex marriage.”

"The Boss" Bruce Springsteen Supports Marriage Equality

When the question of marriage equality is on the ballot in 4 states this year, It's wonderful to see this legend voice his support.  I love the graphic and wanted to share it with you.  Feel free to share it with others.

While I think that marriage equality should never be put up to a popular vote, we still need to fight for our rights at the ballot box. The religious bigots are bringing the fight and we need to as well!
