Image
Elton has been saved by  Stephanie Fryns So, this guy is is both a homophobe and an idiot.  Dogs "hump" or "mount" to show dominance over other dogs.   Via Huffington Post: A Tennessee dog owner sent his pet to be euthanized because he suspected the dog was "gay." Fortunately, the pup was later adopted. A Jackson, Tenn., resident  surrendered his "gay" dog for euthanization  to the Jackson Rabies Control Animal Shelter on Jan. 29 because he saw his male pitbull/American bulldog mix "humping" another male dog, the Examiner reports. The Huffington Post confirmed with Jackson Rabies Control, a high-kill shelter, that the dog had been surrendered because his owner believed he was "gay." Don't be gay, Sparky!!

Chick-Fil-A's Dan Cathy Is Either A Reformed Homophobe...Or Not

Image
Campus Pride executive director  Shane L. Win dmeyer (left) and Chick-Fil-A's  Dan Cathy Huffington Post is all gaga (not her) about Dan Cathy and the supposed softening of his anti-gay beliefs and acti ons.  Activist and  Campus Pride executive director  Shane L. Win dmeyer blogged that he was invited to meet with Dan for a conversation and better understanding of each other's viewpoint. Yes, after months of personal phone calls, text messages and in-person meetings, I am coming out in a new way, as a friend of Chick-fil-A's president and COO, Dan Cathy, and I am nervous about it... ...Never once did Dan or anyone from Chick-fil-A ask for Campus Pride to stop protesting Chick-fil-A. On the contrary, Dan listened intently to our concerns and the real-life accounts from youth about the negative impact that Chick-fil-A was having on campus climate and safety at colleges across the country. He was concerned about an incident last fall where a fraternity w...

125,000 March For Marriage Equality In France

Image
Sign reads "Jesus had two fathers and a surrogate mother". Love it!! The pro-gay marriage demonstration was far smaller than anti-gay marriage demonstration, but the latest polls favor gay marriage by a wide margin.   Via ABC News: Tens of thousands of people marched in Paris Sunday in support of a government-sponsored bill that would legalize marriage and adoption for same-sex couples. Demonstrators waved banners emblazoned with phrases such as "Equality of rights is not a threat" as they began marching Sunday from Denfert-Rochereau square in the southern part of the city. The march drew 125,000 demonstrators into the streets, according to police. That was well above the number counted by police at a similar march in December, but far less than the estimated 340,000 that turned out for a demonstration by those opposed to the proposal two weeks ago. About 63 percent of French people favor legalizing gay marriage, according to a survey released Saturday, ...

Ashley Broadway (left) with her wife, Lt.Col Heather Mack (right) and their son Carson It looks like the homophobic military spouses club at Fort Bragg was shamed into offering Ashly a full, permanent membership, after she was named "Military Spouse of the Year" by Military Spouse magazine.  Congratulations to Ashley for standing up for her rights! Via Newsday: FORT BRAGG, N.C. -- A woman married to a female Army officer at  Fort Bragg  and who was recently denied membership in its officers' spouses club said that she has been invited to become a full member. Ashley Broadway said late Friday that she received the invitation from the club's board in an email. The invitation came on the same day that Broadway also learned she'd been named Fort Bragg's 2013 "Military Spouse of the Year" by Military Spouse magazine. She is married to Lt. Col. The Right Wing Lie About Obama Spending

Image
One more right wing lie exposed Obviously, not a gay story.  But, it's just another example of how the right wing lies in the face of reality.  They always do it to the gay community and, in this case, Obama's spending.  They so desperately need to hold on to their "big-spending liberal" lie because, if they don't, their reality crumbles. Via Market Watch: WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — Of all the falsehoods told about President Barack Obama, the biggest whopper is the one about his reckless spending spree. As would-be president Mitt Romney tells it: “I will lead us out of this debt and spending inferno.” Almost everyone believes that Obama has presided over a massive increase in federal spending, an “inferno” of spending that threatens our jobs, our businesses and our children’s future. Even Democrats seem to think it’s true. But it didn’t happen. Although there was a big stimulus bill under Obama, federal spending is rising at the slowest pace since ...

Openly Gay And Welcomed Into The U.S. Congress

Image
Speaker  Boehner (left) posing with  Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (right) and his family The New York Times covers the new openly gay, lesbian and bi members of congress: WASHINGTON — When Mark Takano ran unsuccessfully for Congress twice in the early 1990s, his opponents tried to smear him as a “homosexual liberal” and a “nutzoid.” One of them even had  pink fliers  printed that asked, “A Congressman for Riverside ... Or San Francisco?” When he ran again last year, he won by almost 20 points. “Flash forward 18 years,” Mr. Takano said recently, “and the very macho building tradesmen are behind me. I’m getting pictures with them in their hard hats.” For decades, the words “gay” and “Congress” were usually seen together only in stories of scandal and shame:  an arrest  after an illicit proposition in an airport bathroom,  accusations  of trawling for sex on a phone service. When  Gerry E. Studds  came out 30 years ago, the...

Rhode Island House Passes Gay Marriage Bill

Image
Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Chafee It still needs to pass the Senate.  Gov. Lincoln Chafee will sign it into law if it does. Via Gay Star News: The Rhode Island House of Representatives passed a marriage equality bill on Thursday (24 January) bringing the tiny New England state one step closer to legalizing gay marriage. The House easily passed the legislation by a vote of 51-19 but it now faces what is expected to be a much tougher battle in the State Senate. It will next face a Senate committee which must vote in favor of the bill being sent before the full Senate for a vote.
