Supreme Court Rejects Challenge To Transgendered Student Protections!

Image
Via CBS News: Washington — The Supreme Court on Monday turned away a challenge brought by Oregon parents to a school district's policy allowing transgender students to use bathroom facilities that match their gender identity. The dispute was brought by a group of parents who argued the policy enacted by Dallas School District No. 2 in Dallas, Oregon, and left in place by lower courts violated other students' privacy rights. The policy was created after a transgender boy sought to use the boy's bathroom and locker room at his high school until he graduated. The school district allowed the student to do so over the objections of some parents. Read the full story here.

The Exploitation Of Dead And Wounded Military Members To Belittle Caitlyn Jenner's Bravery

Image
By now, you have probably seen the many photo memes mocking the "bravery" of Caitlyn Jenner for telling her story by comparing her to the bravery of our military members. Here are just a few: This one And this one OK. the first issue:  Why do we need to belittle anyone's bravery by comparing it to someone else's? The answer is bigotry towards transgendered people, plain and simple. The only reason to disparage the true courage it takes for any transgendered person to live openly and honestly is transphobia.  Here's the second issue: The top photo meme is a lie. Noah Galloway is a truly brave man. We should honor is service and his loss. However, he was never a "runner up" for this award .  Directly from ESPN: In a statement to MTV News on Wednesday (June 3), an ESPN spokesperson confirmed there is “no such thing as a runner up for the three major awards,” referring to the Arthur Ashe Courage award, the Pat Tillman Award f...

Surprise! Mike Huckabee Says Something Stupid About Transgendered People

Image
Mike Huckabee via Wikipedia Via Buzzfeed: “For those who do not think that we are under threat, simply recognize that the fact that we are now in city after city watching ordinances say that your seven-year-old daughter, if she goes into the restroom cannot be offended and you can’t be offended if she’s greeted there by a 42-year-old man who feels more like a woman than he does a man.” What astounds me is the lack of empathy and the willful ignorance of what it means to be transgendered.  The statement gets better.  “Now I wish that someone told me that when I was in high school that I could have felt like a woman when it came time to take showers in PE,” said Huckabee. “I’m pretty sure that I would have found my feminine side and said, ‘Coach, I think I’d rather shower with the girls today.’ You’re laughing because it sounds so ridiculous doesn’t it?” Yes, Mike. That 42 year old that identifies as female who wants to use the restroom is the same thing as a horney t...

Macy's Employee Fired For Anti Trans Behavior

Image
Courtesy ABC News Macy's diversity policy forbids what this former employee did.  I found it perplexing that she states "her religious beliefs prevented her from recognizing transgender people", as if burying your head in the sand will make them go away. The last time I checked, regardless of whether it's a women's or men's dressing room, every changing booth is private, so what's the big deal? Found this gem at Queerty.com: Down in Texas last week, God-fearing college student Natalie Johnson went to her job at Macy’s and had what must have been an eye-opening experience: a trans woman shopping for women’s clothes.   It was unconscionable! Just not right! She had to fix it! So when the customer tried to defile the purity of a woman’s dressing room by entering it, Johnson, 27, took it upon herself to set things right. “I made sure to keep an eye on him because he was shopping for women’s clothing,” she  told KSAT TV  in San Antonio. “I had t...
