In the early morning hours of June 28, 1969 police raided the Stonewall Inn, a popular gay bar in the Greenwich Village section of New York City. That night the street erupted into violent protests and street demonstrations that lasted for the next three days. The Stonewall riots marked a major turning point in the modern gay civil rights movement in the United States and around the world.

Love Chik-Fil-A But Hate Their Homophobia? Try Chef Hilah Johnson's Chik-Fil-Gay

Chef Hilah Johnson has lots
of gay friends...and lots of class!
They do make a great sandwich....but what homophobic dicks!! Chik-Fil-A is an anti-gay corporate bully.  The donate money to anti-gay causes and they don't deserve our money.

Via The Advocate:

Internet chef Hilah Johnson loves Chick-Fil-A's fried chicken sandwiches, but she isn't so keen on the company's antigay political leanings, or the fact that it's closed on Sundays. So Johnson took matters into her own hands and came up with the Chick-Fil-Gay, a substitute for those who crave one of the company's chicken sandwiches but don't want to patronize the restaurant.

You can see the ingredients and the instruction on how to make a hate-free, delicious chicken sandwich from Hilah Johnson's website HilahCooking.com.
Watch her fry up a sandwich below:

Dan Savage Correctly Compares GoProud To Self-Destructive Drug And Sex Addicts

Gay Hero Dan Savage
Dan Savage calls it likes he sees it.  In this comparison, he is completely correct.  Anyone willing to vote for a candidate that actively works to deny you your rights is self-loathing.  It is the same self-loathing, CAUSED by homophobia, that results in drug, alcohol and sex abuse that occurs at higher rates in Gays & Lesbians.

Via Dan Savage:
It's not that self-hatred in many gay people causes personally-destructive behavior. It's that the external hatred all gay people have to endure—discrimination, oppression, bigotry, and rejection by family members poisoned by "faith"—can lead to substance abuse, punishing sexual excess, and suicide. Being gay doesn't damage us. It's the way we are treated for being gay that leaves many of us damaged. Johann Hari said it best:
Being subjected to bullying and violence as children and teenagers makes gay people unusually vulnerable to depression and despair. The homophobes then use that depression and despair to claim that homosexuality is inherently a miserable state—and we shouldn’t do anything that might “encourage" it. They create misery, and then use it as a pretext to create even more misery.

Gay Rights Icon Larry Brinkin Arrested For Child Pornography Possession

Larry Brinkin
I'm sure that the anti gay activists will ignore the over-representation of straight pedophiles  in the world and use this as a weapon against gay rights.

Police say they arrested 66-year-old Larry Brinkin, the high-profile gay activist, on possession of child pornography on Friday night.
Brinkin, a community icon who led the fight for the city to recognize same-sex partnerships, was arrested and booked into San Francisco County Jail, police said.
He posted bail and was released Saturday, according to a jail spokesman.
Police Spokesman Officer Albie Esparza would only say that the case was still under investigation, and would give no more details at this time.
Brinkin retired from the Human Rights Commission in 2010, and has been a beloved member of the gay community, with the Board of Supervisors even declaring the first week of February as "Larry Brinkin Week."
We put in a call to Theresa Sparks, executive director of the Human Rights Commission, who told us this allegation is "beyond hard to believe."

Last Known Gay Jewish Holocaust Survivor Gad Beck Dies

Gay Jewish Holocaust Survivor Gad Beck
Like Alan Turing, Gad Beck is a gay hero.  It is one thing to proclaim your rights in the U.S. in 2012...imagine doing that in Nazi Germany.
Gad Beck, a WWII Nazi resistance fighter and the last known gay Jewish survivor of the Holocaust, passed away on Sunday in a in a senior citizens’ home Berlin, Germany.
Beck was a pioneering gay activist and educator in a severely anti-homosexual, repressive post-World War II Germany
During a wartime effort Beck entered a Nazi deportation center to donning a Hitler Youth uniform to free his Jewish lover Manfred Lewin, who had declined to separate himself from his family. The Nazis would later deport the entire Lewin family to Auschwitz, where they were all murdered.
Beck was featured in the film The Life of Gad Beck and the documentary Paragraph 175. (The notorious Paragraph 175 of the German Penal Code outlawed homosexuality before Adolf Hitler became chancellor in 1933, and the Nazi party radically intensified the enforcement of the anti-gay law, including deportations to extermination camps.
Speaking about his life as a gay Jew, Beck invoked a line frequently cited about homosexuality: “God doesn’t punish for a life of love.”
More information on Gad Beck is Here and Here.

Remembering The Gay Father Of The Modern Computer Alan Turing

Gay Hero Alan Turing
The man who cracked the German code, the father of the modern computer and artificial intelligence was a gay man.  He saved countless lives during World War II and was rewarded with chemical castration, because he was gay.

Via LGBTQNation.com:

Saturday, June 23, 2012 marks what would have been the 100th birthday of Alan Turing, a brilliant British mathematician and computer scientist who was highly influential in the creating what would become the modern computer, and is most famous for his work on breaking the German Enigma codes during World War II.

Turing is widely considered to be the father of computer science and artificial intelligence.
Turing was also gay, and in 1952 was criminally prosecuted by his homeland for “homosexual acts” — he died of cyanide poisoning on June 7, 1954 in what was ruled a suicide.

In 2009, The British Government issued an official apology for the injustice.

A new biopic "The Imitation Game", starring Leonardo DiCaprio, is reportedly in the works.

New Adele Biography Claims Alcohol Abuse

I believe that all the best vocalists, with the most expressive performances reach deep down into a place of pain.  I wish her all the best.
Adele was once close to "rolling in the deep" with an alcohol problem, according to a new biography.
In Marc Shapiro's "Adele: The Biography," the author details a time when the singer struggled with a drinking problem that left her visibly intoxicated while performing onstage.
"I got so drunk by the time I went on at 2 a.m. I had forgotten the words to my own songs ... It was the worst thing ever," the 24-year-old singer told Shapiro in an interview, according to In Touch. "Midway through her first tour, she allegedly had a drinking problem," he says.
But according to Shapiro, it was the heartbreak that made Adele a global household name that fueled her alcohol dependence -- an addiction her estranged father similarly suffered from.
"Adele would drink more than normal to salve the heartbreak," Shapiro writes.

The Most Gay-Friendly Zip Codes In America

Residents in San Francisco, Provincetown and Delaware's Reboboth Beach have an extra-special reason to celebrate this LGBT Pride month, as zip codes within those cities have been named as some of the most gay and lesbian neighborhoods in the country.
In a new poll published by online real estate sales site Trulia, economist Jed Kolko used data from the 2010 U.S. Census to determine the nation's most gay-friendly neighborhoods, naming the top 10 areas with the highest concentration of same-sex male couples, and doing the same for female.
San Francisco's Castro district ranked high on both lists, topping the list for gay male couples and coming in tenth for lesbian couples. Similarly, Provincetown came in on top for women and third for men. Still, there were some interesting surprises -- at least to those not familiar with more suburban areas -- along the way.

Shirtless Abercrombie Models Lip Synching "Call Me Maybe"

Photo found at Jason Tells It Like It Is
You already know how much I love the Abercrombie Models.  We'll here's another chance for me to show that love.  I hope you enjoy their lip-synching, I definitely did!

Via Out.com

Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” has become the song of the summer and it’s only midway through June. Everyone from Jimmy Fallon to Harvard’s baseball team has done a video tribute. The Atlantic has even used the song to explain the eurozone crisis. It was only a matter of time before the Abercrombie and Fitch models did a video. And trust us, before it came into our lives we missed it so bad. The video shows them on a world tour in which all of them seem to have forgotten to pack their shirts. While we won’t ask why Abercrombie thinks the best way to sell their clothes is to not show them in ads, we will ask their models to call us maybe.

Watch the video below.

Anti Gay Propaganda Disguised As Gay Parenting Study

This family was definitely not represented in this study
Gee! Whooda Thunkit?!! An anti gay sponsored study is complete bullshit.  The study isn't about gay parenting, it's about the children of broken homes.
A flawed,  puposely misleading, and unscientifically sound “study” that seeks to so nothing more than destroy lesbian and gay parents while making up facts and ignoring 30 years of evidence to the contrary.  The paper is getting wide negative media and is being criticized, and rightfully so by organizations and members of the scientific community both gay and straight for its inaccurate research methods and its blatantly biased attempts to paint gays and lesbians as bad parents without any REAL evidence.
The study, “New Family Structures Study,” written by right-wing author Mark Regnerus (pictured left) of the Department of Sociology and Population Research Center at the University of Texas at Austin turns out to be funded in large part by the anti-gay Witherspoon Institute, and makes a number of unsubstantiated claims about negative outcomes for children raised by gay and lesbian parents. And for the most part, the paper doesn’t even look at same-sex couples raising a child together in a long-term committed relationship.
So, who's paying for the study?
The Witherspoon Institute is a Princeton, New Jersey-based nonprofit organization with ties to the the SLPC Certified hate group the Family Research Council, the National Organization for Marriage, and ultra-conservative Catholic groups like Opus Dei.”
Regnerus study was paid for with a $695,000 grant from the Witherspoon Institute and a $90,000 grant from the archconservative Bradley Foundation which claimsanti-bullying programs that protect LGBT and LGBT-perceived youth in schools amount to promoting  “homosexual indoctrination”

Ya don't say!!

Fired For Being Gay In 29 States

Gay rights activists have made significant strides in recent years on marriage and military service, but one long-standing policy goal remains elusive: a federal law to ban discrimination against gay workers.
Gays now can serve openly in the military. Gay couples now have some form of legal recognition in 19 states and the District of Columbia. But in 29 states, gay workers can still be fired or denied promotions simply because they're gay.
To be sure, 21 states ban job discrimination based on sexual orientation, and all but five of those prohibit bias based on gender identity. Hundreds of cities and counties across the country have enacted nondiscrimination laws. Federal government employees are protected by a policy that prohibits discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. And nearly 90 percent of Fortune 500 companies have their own nondiscrimination policies.
But some legal experts say workers and their employers need the kind of legal clarity that only a federal law can provide. Just because municipalities and companies have nondiscrimination policies, it doesn't mean discrimination doesn't happen, or that an employee who experiences discrimination has any legal recourse."It's very important for the law to be clear and for both employers and employees to have clear rules in place," said Jennifer Pizer, the legal director for the Williams Institute, a research group that advances sexual orientation law and public policy at the University of California, Los Angeles.
A federal law to ban workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation has languished for years. The Employment Non-Discrimination Act was first introduced in 1994. The House of Representatives approved it in 2007 on a bipartisan vote, but the Senate never took it up.

America Idol Carrie Underwood Supports Gay Marriage

From "Jesus Take The Wheel" to "I support gay marriage".  This is a very courageous move.  She may face a backlash with her fan base.  Time will tell.  Thank you Carrie for being so supportive!

Via TowleRoad:

"As a married person myself, I don't know what it's like to be told I can't marry somebody I love, and want to marry. I can't imagine how that must feel. I definitely think we should all have the right to love, and love publicly, the people that we want to love. Our church is gay friendly. Above all, God wanted us to love others. It's not about setting rules, or [saying] 'everyone has to be like me'. No. We're all different. That's what makes us special. We have to love each other and get on with each other. It's not up to me to judge anybody." - Carrie Underwood.

New Study Shows More People Know Gays And Are More Accepting

It's pretty obvious that the more that people know us, the more they like us.  Of course they do...we're FABULOUS!!

A majority of Americans now say they have a close friend or family member who is gay, according to a new poll from CNN. This marks a sharp shift from just two decades ago, when most said they didn't have any close friends or family members who were gay...
...Among the group surveyed this year, 60 percent said they have a family member or a close friend who is gay or lesbian, an amount 15 percentage points higher than what was recorded in CNN's 2007 poll. In 1994, the percentage was even smaller -- less than one-third of those surveyed by CNN reported a close relationship with a gay or lesbian person.
"The poll confirms what we have known for some time," said Suzanne Goldberg, a professor at Columbia Law School who specializes in sexuality and gender law. "American attitudes about gay and lesbian people and about marriage equality for same sex couples have been changing consistently and quickly and the arc bends towards equality."

The Haters Are Flying Anti Gay Banners At Gay Days...Again

I was kind of looking forward to seeing the banners in person, but I'm stuck inside!  With the shift in public attitudes about the LGBT community, groups like the Florida Family Association are only exposing their extreme hatred to the rest of the world.
The Florida Family Association will reportedly make good on an earlier vow to protest Walt Disney World's annual "Gay Days" event by flying two planes carrying "warning" banners over the Orlando-based resort this weekend. The organization, which has also protested the event in previous years, says the action is a response to "many, many letters and emails from people across the country" who inadvertently planned their Disney vacations during "Gay Days." Organizers also cite a letter from a grandfather who took his two-year-old granddaughter to the park 18 years ago and called the event "the most deplorable sight that we ever saw.""We want to warn families before they expose their children to Gay Day’s same-sex revelry, before they pay money to Disney for parking, admission, novelties and food," the group notes on its website, while thanking members who donated a $12,802.37 for the rental of two banner-carrying planes, to be flown on Sunday. "We also want to send a message that Gay Day’s public promotion of homosexuality to a captured audience inside the park is wrong."In April, a group calling themselves the "Non-A-Holes," or "average Americans against hatred," announced a fundraiser to have a banner flown over Walt Disney World which read, "WARNING: Homophobes Loose in Orlando. Hide Your Kids," on June 2, as a rebuttal to the Florida Family Association's plan.
